A Neapolitan pizzeria from James Beard Award winner Vivian Howard, host of PBS's 'A Chef's Life,' and partner Ben Knight.
For the pair's first restaurant outside of their Kinston, North Carolina hometown, Ben and Vivian conceived a more approachable concept built around housemade pizza and pasta for the Wilmington community.
The identity centered on collaged graphics and stamped patterns by illustrator Nanna Prieler, applied across the restaurant's touchpoints. The loose, hand-stamped style cued the housemade quality of the food, while the contemporary palette gave the brand its sense of humor. The system extended into a number of collateral items, most notably menus printed on-site daily to accommodate seasonal ingredient changes. Vendors were sourced from across North Carolina, in keeping with the owners' commitment to the local economy.
